Sustainable Landscaping
Here at Blazing Star Landscapes, our love of nature results in our edge in the field of sustainable landscaping. We believe that healthy and happy gardens not only benefit us, but the whole.
Styles of Gardens
There are a variety of types of gardens that one can implement to stay consistent with the principles of sustainable landscaping such as reduced water/fertilizers/pesticides and conservation tactics. Types of gardening includes:
-native perennial gardens
-xeric perennial gardens
-zero-landscaping
-cactus and succulent gardens
-green roofs
-prairie with grasses and wildflowers
Native Plants
Native plants are an incredible way to not only increase the ecological value of your garden, promote sustainability and conservation as well as enhance the natural beauty of your garden. Native plants evolved with Colorado's climate and soil and thus, can flourish in the toughest conditions, be a resource in the matrix of the greater ecosystem, and bring a touch of the wild places we love so much to your own background.
Ecological Restoration
Ecological restoration is the practice, and art, of creating, restoring, or augmenting land to a more natural environment. Examples of this type of landscaping are removing rip-rap alongside of a creek and planting wetland native species instead, or converting part of a lawn to a native prairie with wildflowers, to removing invasive species that have taken over a portion of land or garden bed on your property.
